It's not mouthwash, it's water...

This lovely tidbit was uttered from the lips of Adrian Rogowski (Guitarist for The Curious Incident) in response to what was most presumably a very inquisitive look on my face when faced with the image of him strutting around with a large Colgate Plax bottle at The Curious Incident's Album Launch.

This sort of thing really sums them up honestly. Eccentric, quirky, a lovely mix of all things wholesome and slightly off center.

I've been given the opportunity to cover a few of Adrian and Kyle's previous band's (Cat String Theory) in the past and have always enjoyed their jazzy upbeat musical stylings. Never before had I heard their latest effort in the form of TCI. So I saddled up, fetched a friend's digital Nikon and headed off to the show. Unfortunately the turnout was definitely not what was to be expected, however I don't feel this was the Band's fault. Put it down to timing, location and perhaps just trying to play their sort of music in Indie and Metal infested Bellville was the problem.

Regardless they put on a great show, headed up by Holiday Murray and the the Plastics, The Curious Incident then jumped in to their set full swing. An eclectic mix of Funk and wit, they love what they do and it always shows whenever I see these guys on stage.

Till next time kids. Peace.

And so it begins...

I've decided to start blogging.

This decision has been made due to the fact that:

A) I have been suffering from some serious creative blockage. Presumably due to the fact most of my equipment was stolen and I've been rather depressed about it. This seems like a fresh outlet for me.

B) This seems like a great way to take my writing ability and my photography and meld them together to form some twisted beast of literature and vision that will rape and pillage people's minds.

C) Apparently, all the cool kids are doing it. And I so desperately wish to be one of them.

I take photographs, albeit in whatever spare time I have. I've never studied the art at any recognised place of learning, however I have been poring over literature regarding photography since I can remember.

I'd love to make a profession out of it, perhaps even photography and writing. Journalism would be the obvious pick, however most of what I'd end up covering would cause me great stress and depression. I unfortunately have a very blunt and cynical outlook on life, but you will soon come to know this if you choose to follow this blog.

I'll not be posting often, as I have limited access to the Internet. However I will try my best to keep you informed of my going's on as well as tantalize your visual taste buds with odd photographs of bits and bobs concerning my life.

For now, a photo of me. Not much of a photo... But a photo nonetheless.

So enough rambling for now, there'll be more to come and as my father always liked to say: "Alan, always keep people wanting for more. Or at least make them think they want more."

Regards
